What if we were up to re-evaluate our priorities and clean up excess spaces we inhabit, reducing homes to a configuration that values what makes sense to each family and removing what is superfluous? The Grená House was designed for a family of four: a couple and their two adult children. The land is the same where the former family house is, with 330m², having also a large garden and a squash court.Save this picture!© Eduardo MacariosQuestioning the time they spent to take care of the house, there came up the possibility to subdivide the lot into three different houses and occupy the place where the old squash court was located with the new house, which should be practical and cozy. To preserve the history, the original parquet flooring of the court was removed by the owner and restored to be used in the social area later.Save this picture!© Eduardo MacariosSave this picture!Plan – Ground floorSave this picture!© Eduardo MacariosBased on these premises, Grená House emerged from the boundaries of the old squash court on the ground floor, with 9 meters of free space and 1,60 meter far from the back wall of the lot. This distance allowed the cross-ventilation and indirect light in the social area, and generated a garden area that is incorporated into the house. The first floor has a semi-covered parking space that can function as an extension of the social area. There is also a kitchen, dining, living room, toilet, and service area. In front of the service area, there is a sunny patio and a vegetable garden.Save this picture!© Eduardo MacariosFor spatial freedom on the ground floor, the intimate block was suspended on the grid of metal beams that crossed the lot in the shortest direction. On the upper floor there are the suite, two bedrooms, and a garden. This volume has been moved to the limit of the plot so the rooms receive the sunlight that comes from the North. The children’s rooms share a private garden, designed as a space for the siblings and a place to enjoy the sunset. The reddish color comes from the local soil and appears in three features. At the access to the house, on the front wall, which is completely sealed and, besides composing a visual barrier, it has the function of trash and deposit. Also, the red is in the metal parts, formed by frames and beams. And it is on the staircase made of folded sheet metal, which marks the circulation to the second floor and receives direct lighting through a skylight.Save this picture!© Eduardo MacariosSave this picture!Section ASave this picture!© Eduardo MacariosIn addition to the metal beams, conventional materials such as masonry and concrete structure were used. The built area is 139.00 m² spread over two floors. The house received a precise thermal comfort project, which directed the application of plasterboard on the external walls and detailed specifications of aluminium profiles and glass for the frames. Despite the rational form and function, the house shows the personality of the residents through colors and objects. Through its reduced configuration, it was made possible to silence external noises while it has room for what makes sense.Save this picture!© Eduardo MacariosProject gallerySee allShow lessLookout House / Faulkner ArchitectsSelected ProjectsCO-OP Ramen Restaurant / Marlon Blackwell ArchitectSelected Projects Share Anderson Almeida Grena House / Nommo ArquitetosSave this projectSaveGrena House / Nommo Arquitetos ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/944461/grena-house-nommo-arquitetos Clipboard Photographs “COPY” Houses Save this picture!© Eduardo Macarios+ 34Curated by Matheus Pereira Share 2020 Year:  ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/944461/grena-house-nommo-arquitetos Clipboard Brazil Grena House / Nommo Arquitetos “COPY” Lead Architect: Projects CopyHouses•Vila Bancaria, Brazil Area:  1496 ft² Year Completion year of this architecture project Photographs:  Eduardo Macarios Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project Manufacturers: Decorealast_img read more

Round robin loss too much for Nelson Selects to overcome, finish sixth at Provincial B Cup in Aldergrove

first_imgSo close, but yet so far away for the Nelson Selects at the B.C. Soccer Provincial B Cup U15 Boy’s tournament Sunday in Aldergrove. The Selects watched as Prospect Lake score the lone goal of the second half of the final round robin game to edge Nelson 2-1 and knock the Kootenay/Columbia reps out of the gold medal game and into the consolation round.Nelson did not rebound from the heartbreaking defeated, dropping another 2-1 decision to Chilliwack in the fifth/sixth-place contest.“Nelson matched up very well with some of the best teams in the province,” said Dan Szabo of the U15 coaching staff.“And although were disappointed with sixth in the eight-team tourney, the margin between those who played for medals and the others was very tight.”“(This was a) good, competitive tournament,” he added. As in any eight-team tourney that uses a round robin format to determine the finalists, one game can make a huge difference.Which is definitely what happened to the Selects.Sitting in the driver’s seat after scoring a 2-2 against South Burnaby and registering a 5-0 blowout of Williams Lake, the Reps stumbled against Prospect Lake.A goal in the 71st minute was too much for the Selects to overcome.Prospect Lake opened the scoring in the 25th minutes off a corner kick. However, Nelson rebounded minutes later when convert a perfect cross form James Miller to even the count at 1-1 heading into halftime.Nelson pressed for the equalizer but could not crack the Prospect Lake defence. The Selects opened with a deserving 2-2 draw against pre-tourney favourite South Burnaby.Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Reps got goals from Micah May and Nicholas Wethal to surprise Burnaby.Spencer Szabo assisted both markers.Friday Nelson looked like world-beaters after blasting Williams Lake 5-0.Nolan Percival, with his first of two in the game, and Jimmy Johnson scored in the first half for Nelson.Percival, Miller and Owen Thurston completed the scoring in the second. In the consolation round against Chilliwack, a couple of mistakes erased a 1-0 Nelson lead allowing the Fraser Valley squad to escape with the one-goal victory.CCB Elite (Whalley) defeated South Burnaby 2-0 to capture the gold medal while Vernon edged Prospect Lake 3-2 to claim the bronze.U16 & U18 Boys finish fourth and seventh, respectivelyShuswap FC of Salmon Arm scored the only goal of the game en route to 1-0 win in the bronze medal of the B.C. Provincial B U16 Boy’s Cup Sunday in Aldergrove.Much like their younger cousins, U15 boys, the U16 squad lost in the final round robin game 1-0 to Douglas Park Blue Rangers to drop into the bronze medal game. The Selects opened with a 1-1 tie against Comox Valley Red Devils before Quesnel Strikers 1-0 Friday.Meanwhile, the U18 boys struggled out the gate with draws against North Delta and Prince George. In the final round robin game Saturday, Nelson lost 3-2 to Saanich to fall to fourth spot in the Group B standings.Nelson responded in the final match to blast host Aldergrove 5-1.last_img read more
